Nigeria continued their dominance in the West African region after winning gold medals in all four categories at the 2023 ITTF Table Tennis Championships held in Accra between April 24 and 27.
Nigeria won gold in the men's and women's singles and teams categories respectively to finish the tournament as the best participating team.
In the women's singles, Bello Fatimo, a three-time West Africa Regional champion, beat her compatriot Ojomu Ajoke to win gold while the latter picked up the silver medal.
Nigeria's Esther Oribamise completed the sweep by winning the bronze medal. Despite losing the third-place playoff game, there was a medal for the Ivorian.
The men's category also saw Amadi Omeh of Nigeria register a 4-0 win against Kizito Oba Oba to clinch the gold medal with the Ivorian winning the silver medal.
In an all-Nigeria third-place playoff, Rilwan Akanbi beat Azeez Solanke with both players receiving a bronze medal.
Having missed out on a medal in the singles category, Ghana made their participation count in the teams' category as they won bronze and silver medals in the men's and women's categories respectively.

The men's team finished fourth behind Ivory Coast, Benin and Nigeria with the latter winning gold while Ghana's women's team led by Cynthia Kwabi also came up second behind Nigeria while Ivory Coast and Benin finished third and fourth respectively.
The first four countries in the teams' categories qualifier to the 2023 African Championship to be held in Tunisia while the first to eighth from the singles also advance to the tournament.
