The bustling town of Hohoe is set to have its long awaited sports stadium, a brainchild of the MP, John Peter Amewu, ready to be commissioned this year.
The structure which is 85% complete, according to the site manager, Alhaji Abdulkarim Kamaru, will help put the Hohoe Municipality in the limelight in regards to sports and also boost economic activities in the area.
Alhaji Abdukarim Kamary who said the Astroturf stadium was started in the early 2000s by the MP of Hohoe, John Peter Amewu, but was abandoned after NPP lost power at that time is now almost ready for use.
It is one of the many projects being undertaken by John Amewu in his constituency.
He noted that the people of Hohoe and the entire region are very excited by the new stadium and waiting patiently for it to be ready so they can have a feel of the facility with all the modern facilities that come with it.
Alhaji Abdulkarim Kamaru noted that the Astroturf stadium has a ten thousand capacity and modern facilities including a swimming pool, business shops, and gym center.
“The stadium's design is a marvel to behold. Its sleek, modern architecture blended harmoniously with the surrounding landscape, showcasing the town's commitment to progress and development. The venue boasts state-of-the-art facilities, promising to be a hub for various sports events, from football to athletics and beyond,” Alhaji said.
“For months, the construction site buzzed with activity. Teams of skilled workers meticulously laid the foundations, erected the colossal stands, and carefully installed the vibrant, cushioned seats. Engineers meticulously planned the intricate wiring and plumbing systems to ensure the stadium's functionality and comfort.” he added.
The MCE for Hohoe, Daniel Noble Awume enumerated the several developmental projects brought by the government through the MP to make Hohoe one of the best cities in the countries, and is certain of more development to come.
"In this magnificent stadium, we will celebrate not only the completion of a remarkable structure but also the spirit of unity that resides within each and every one of us, resonating with pride May this stadium serve as a symbol of our town's dedication to sports, friendship, and progress!" Mr Daniel Noble Awume said.
The Hohoe Astroturf, according to the MCE, will become a hub of community engagement hosting workshops, coaching clinics, and recreational activities for the youth of Hohoe. It will also serve as venue for schools organizing friendly matches and tournaments, fostering a sense of sportsmanship and healthy competition.
Mr Awume hopes that the Hohoe New Sports Stadium will become more than just a structure but a symbol of unity, athleticism, and the boundless potential of a community with a shared vision.
