The Vodafone Ghana 66th Asantehene Golf Tournament concluded with an exquisite dinner hosted by His Royal Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, at the Lancaster Hotel in Kumasi on June 17, 2023.
The grand event, which was part of Vodafone Ghana's Ashanti Month celebrations, brought together a diverse group of golf enthusiasts, including amateurs and professionals, fostering camaraderie and sportsmanship.
In attendance were esteemed members of Otumfuor’s retinue, senior management of Vodafone Ghana, including CEO Patricia Obo-Nai, representatives from the Telecel Group, (the majority shareholder of Vodafone Ghana), chief executives and officials from sponsoring companies, international golfers from seven African countries, and some of Vodafone’s most loyal customers.
The tournament, which has been sponsored by Vodafone Ghana for the past seven years, is a significant highlight of Ashanti Month.
Vodafone's unwavering support has been instrumental in promoting sports, culture, and sustainable development in the Ashanti region.
The dinner included a lavish array of food, melodic music, graceful dancing, and well-earned rewards to the winners of the golf tournament.
His Royal Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, in his address, commended Vodafone for their loyalty and support for the tournament.
He stated, "Vodafone has been loyal, very supportive of the Royal Golf Club in terms of organising this competition and I say thank you so much for that.”
Patricia Obo-Nai, CEO of Vodafone Ghana, expressed her gratitude and reaffirmed Vodafone’s commitment to the region.
She said, "Tonight, we celebrate not just the sport of golf but the vibrant community that surrounds us. This prestigious tournament continues to strengthen our relationship with our valued clients, customers and Asanteman.”
She pledged the company’s continued commitment to the tournament.
A spokesperson from Telecel remarked: “Telecel equally expresses gratitude to His Royal Majesty and thanks him for the acknowledgment. We have watched, with great admiration, the bond fostered with His Royal Majesty, Otumfuor Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene and we will carry on nurturing this bond.

These included a courtesy call on His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, an exclusive dinner with long-stay customers, customer visits by the Senior Management team of Vodafone Ghana, and various CSR initiatives in health, education, and environmental sustainability. Vodafone Ghana remains resolute in its quest to transform lives and businesses in alignment with its purpose of going "further together".
