Sports management professional, Neil Armstrong-Mortagbe, believes clubs in the Ghana Premier League have a majority role to play to ensure Ghana's top flight becomes an attractive brand.
The Ghana Football Association has suffered a lot of criticism over the last few years for the level of the Premier League and the drop in quality.
The issues with the league range from poor attendance at stadia, little or no attention, officiating errors and hooliganism around various match centres.
Speaking at Joy Sports and Nhyira Sports' mid-year thought leadership event on Monday, July 31, Armstrong-Mortagbe charged clubs to do more to ensure the league become attractive again.
"Out of all the proceeds that come out of our football, it's the clubs that enjoy the greatest share. Out of the 100% that is collected, all other stakeholders take approximately 45%. 55% rest with the clubs," he said.
"It is the clubs that have the greater responsibility to ensure that our club football brand is attractive. The GFA has its role to play. It is the regulator of the industry.
"The FA creates the enabling environment for the league. Once the FA does that, the clubs must play their roles."
The new Ghana Premier League season is set to begin in September with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) announcing the fixtures on Monday, July 31.
