The Vodafone Foundation, in a remarkable gesture through its Homecoming initiative, has covered the medical bills of all insolvent patients in the Nana Hima Dekyi Hospital in Dixcove, a key regional referral hospital and the Agona Nkwanta Polyclinic, both in the Western Region.
This significant act, a part of the 'Grow Western 2023' initiative, underscores Vodafone's unwavering dedication to enhancing healthcare in the region. In addition to discharging insolvent patients in these healthcare facilities, the Foundation also donated essential food items, ensuring the well-being of the patients in their recovery period.
Rita Agyeiwaa Rockson, Head of the Vodafone Foundation, remarked, “Through the 'Vodafone Grow Western 2023' initiative, we continue to demonstrate our commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of people in the region. Homecoming, since its inception, has been a beacon of hope for countless families overwhelmed by medical expenses.”
Nana Twum, Head of Finance at Nana Hima Dekyi Hospital, conveyed his gratitude during the event, lauding the Vodafone Foundation's magnanimity and championing a sustained partnership between the hospital and the Foundation.
Beneficiary Mary Nyame expressed her heartfelt appreciation, noting, “The Vodafone Foundation's intervention has been an immense relief for my family and numerous others.”
Beyond 'Homecoming', the 'Vodafone Grow Western 2023' initiative encompasses several transformative projects. These include the 'Rural Ultrasound Scan' project, ensuring expectant mothers in remote areas receive a timely and critical service as part of their prenatal care, the 'Healthfest' programme offering free medical screenings, the Foundation’s Connected Education programme introducing free STEM activities to primary schools, and Vodafone’s Retail Transformation project, which has already inaugurated 12 community shops in the Western region.
As Vodafone Ghana continues its transformative journey in the Western Region, the 'Grow Western 2023' initiative stands as a testament to the company's unwavering dedication to fostering positive, lasting change.
