The New Patriotic Party (NPP)'s First Vice Chairman in the Offinso South constituency in the Ashanti Region, Dauda Afriyie, has died in a horrific road accident.
According to reports, the late Afriyie was riding a motorcycle when he met his untimely death on Wednesday, October 25.
Eyewitnesses say he attempted to overtake a vehicle that had slowed down and unfortunately crashed with an oncoming school bus, leading to his demise.
The constituency chairman, Salathiel Kwaku Takyi, confirmed the news to the media and narrated the incident.
He expressed deep sorrow over the loss of Mr Afriyie and wished his family well in their moment of difficulty.
According to him, the party has lost a great asset and his absence cannot be filled anytime soon.
“Chairman was riding a motorcycle from Old Town to New Town. He overtook a vehicle, slowed down a bit but collided with an oncoming school bus which ran over him. He really served the party for more than 12 years. The party has lost a great personality,” he said.
