Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum has been ordered to appear before Parliament by 12:30 pm. Failure to do so may result in his referral to Parliament’s privileges committee.
This pertains to the Ministry’s refusal to comply with a directive from Parliament to reconsider the reopening date for first-years in senior high schools across the country.
The House had earlier directed the Minister to postpone the reopening of school for the students. However, the Education Minister has refused and doubled down on their decision.
A while ago, the Education Minister walked into the chamber after the pronouncement by the Speaker.
He is expected to provide clarification on his outfit's decision to go ahead with the directive.
A total of 598,839 candidates underwent the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS), resulting in 585,797 individuals being placed in different Senior High Schools and Technical and Vocational Education and Training Schools (TVET) throughout the country.
