Chocked gutters, litter in between stalls and overflowing rubbish bins characterise one of the busiest markets in the country, Agbogbloshie.
Situated in the national capital, Accra, the market is home to major retailing of foods ranging from onion, yam, vegetables and fruits.
The extent of trading at the market brings there many loaded trucks from the hinterland with these food items. And with the many people comes the filth generated.
For Dede Monica, who has been selling in the market for many years, taking on the task of cleaning her trading spot every morning is her way of contributing to the market which many have labelled dirty.
Acknowledging that the filth generated in the market can be better managed, queen mother of the Millenium Market, Mabel Adadevor, tells JoyNews, that a punishment regime has been instituted for those who flout regulations in efforts to make the market filth-free.
Popularly known as the English man, he leads the market task force with sternness as he says the rubbish causes traffic on the already congested stretch
