Elon Musk’s satellite internet firm Starlink is set to formally commence operations in Ghana by end of this month, August 2024.
The permission was granted by National Communications Authority (NCA) after Starlink met all the necessary regulatory requirements.
The NCA in statement announced that, Starlink has been permitted to operate after concluding negotiations for all the administrative and licensing procedures.
Starlink will operate under the name, Space X Starlink GH LTD.
The NCA earlier this year approved Starlink’s request to operate in Ghana.
However, it could not start operations as there were some other requirements that were mandatory for the company to start business in Ghana.
Starlink has been described as super high speed internet provider.
Some telecom analysts have however cautioned that the services may not come cheap.
It could cost about US$600 to US$2,500 for a Startlink equipment, depending on kind of service needed.
Aside this, monthly cost could be between $120 and $5000.
This will still be dependent on the kind on service signed up for.
Starlink has moved to revolutionized internet services in markets it has entered.
