The flagbearer of the All-People’s Congress (APC), Hassan Ayariga says that Ghanaians need a change of mindset to develop the country.
According to him, political leaders must engage with Ghanaians to instill the conviction to prioritise their country and consider it their most valuable asset.
Mr Ayariga noted that there needs to be a shift in mindset regarding work ethics, behaviour, and job creation in Ghana.
Speaking on JoyNews AM Show, Mr Ayariga said, “When you engage the Ghanaian society and have that mindset change, it gives the first opportunity to be able to move this country forward.”
He explained that a change in mindset is necessary because Ghanaians have the capacity to transform the nation when they unite.
The APC flagbearer said however, that due to corruption in both the current and previous governments, many Ghanaians feel disillusioned and unwilling to participate.
Mr Ayariga noted that Ghanaians are hesitant to contribute their wealth, resources, money, and energy to national development when they perceive that the leaders are more corrupt than any others.
He emphasised that when corruption dominates, people are unwilling to contribute or change their mindset towards building the country.
"But when you have a president who is unique, who tells the people the way it is, inspires the people, and lets them know that he is coming to serve them, not the other way around, it makes a difference."
