The Chief of Buduburam is urging calm as efforts are made to determine how a rock blasting caused the death of three people in the community.
The Ministry of Roads and Highways has suspended construction on the Kasoa-Buduburam road after a controlled rock blasting exercise which also left several others injured.
The incident, which has sparked outrage among residents and commuters, occurred during a routine blasting as part of the ongoing road expansion project in the area.
Debris from the blast scattered across the vicinity, causing severe injuries and significant damage to nearby properties.
A total of 42 injured individuals were transported to St. Gregory Hospital.
According to the hospital's administrator, Matias Ayegre, three of the injured have died, while the remaining patients are responding to treatment.
The Ministry of Roads and Highways says the incident was accidental.
