Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) in Buduburam have successfully controlled a gas leak following an explosion at the Big Apple area in Gomoa Buduburam, Gomoa East District, Central Region.
The incident occurred at a local gas filling station while maintenance work was being carried out on a tanker.
Deputy Fire Commander at the Buduburam Fire Station, Benjamin Nii Okai Osabu, explained that the fire service received an urgent distress call about a leaking tanker.
“When we arrived at the scene, we saw that the tanker was indeed leaking. We immediately made announcements to alert the community and then began controlling the gas leak,” he said.
Hassan Hamidu, the NADMO Director for Gomoa East District, assured that measures would be implemented to prevent similar incidents in the future.
“The safety of our residents is a priority, and we will ensure proper protocols are in place to avoid such occurrences,” he stated.
