Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West and Minister for Communication and Digitalisation, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful on Tuesday inaugurated the refurbished 4-classroom block of the Dansoman Special School at a ceremony at Dansoman, a suburb of Accra.

The school, which has over 50 children had its main building dilapidated with an undesirable compound for years until the MP visited the school in 2014, and promised to refurbish it.
The refurbished school block has a toilet facility, furniture, an astroturf compound, a staff common room, walkways and an administration office.

Speaking during the inauguration, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful said when she visited the school, she saw that all the children were crowded in one classroom while the water from one of the clusters of schools passed through the compound which could expose them to diseases.

She pleaded with the teachers to take good care of the facilities to enable them to serve their purpose.
The Headteacher of the school, Madam Charity Lariba Daboya, thanked the MP for her effort that has led to the refurbishment of the school.

She said because the school is not popular like other special schools in the country the school hardly receives public support.
She is therefore calling on corporate bodies to come to the aid of the school.
The inauguration was witnessed by the Municipal Chief Executive of the Ablekuma West Municipality Mr George Blay.
