The Western Regional office of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed profound gratitude to the chiefs, religious bodies, and people of the Western Region for their overwhelming support during the 2024 general elections.

In a press release signed by the Regional Secretary, Mr Joe Nelson, the NDC acknowledged the challenges faced by the region and the country as a whole, attributing them to the "mismanagement and lack of leadership" by the outgoing New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.

Despite these difficulties, the NDC assured citizens of a brighter future under the leadership of former President John Dramani Mahama who is assumed to have won the presidential race, promising to "reset and reposition the country on the path of growth and progress."

The NDC’s success in the Western Region has been described as unprecedented. The party is claiming to have won 15 out of the 17 parliamentary seats, a feat it attributed to the trust and confidence reposed in it by the people of the region.

The victory extended to the presidential race, where the region played a pivotal role in securing massive votes for Mr Mahama.

"This resounding victory would not have been possible without the wise counsel and support of our revered traditional leaders, religious figures, the business community, and well-meaning individuals across the Western Region," the statement noted.

The NDC reaffirmed its commitment to the Western Region, pledging not to overlook its significant contribution to the party’s success.

"Together, we have laid the foundation for a better future, and under the leadership of the NDC, the Western Region and Ghana as a whole will witness meaningful development and prosperity," Mr Nelson stated.

The party also extended congratulations to all newly elected Members of Parliament from the region.

Special thanks were offered to the regional and constituency executives, branch leaders, foot soldiers, members of the Accra caucus, and the media, whose collective efforts were deemed instrumental in the campaign's success.

As the NDC prepares to assume leadership, the party expressed optimism about the future, calling for unity and continued collaboration.

"May the Almighty God bless us all and continue to guide us on this path of progress," the statement concluded.
