Former Second Vice Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Crabbe has called for a complete overhaul of the party's structure and leadership.
He cited significant flaws that he believes contributed to the party's crushing defeat in the 2024 general elections.
Speaking on JoyNews' Personality Profile with Emefa Akosua Adeti, Mr Crabbe described the NPP’s lack of a "duty of care" mechanism for its members as a critical weakness.
“I wasn’t surprised by the party’s loss. I didn’t expect the scale of the defeat,” he admitted.
Mr Crabbe emphasised that the NPP must address its internal shortcomings to regain public trust, stressing the need for reforms to restore accountability and unity.
Reflecting on his 2015 suspension, which he claimed was orchestrated by party executives who opposed his leadership style, Mr Crabbe said his removal highlighted deeper issues within the party.
"It wasn’t about what was best for the party; it was about individuals protecting their interests," he remarked.
Looking ahead, Mr Crabbe revealed his intentions to contest for the NPP chairmanship slot in 2026.
"My experience has equipped me to lead the party through this challenging period. We need to rebuild from the ground up, and I’m ready to take on that responsibility,” he stated.
