The Finance Minister-designate, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has committed to working closely with the Minister for Agriculture to ensure the effective implementation of government policies aimed at transforming the agricultural sector.
During his vetting before Parliament's Appointments Committee on Monday, 13 January, Dr Forson outlined his strategic vision for modernising agriculture and enhancing its productivity.
He highlighted that mechanisation, innovation, and improved productivity are essential to the sector's long-term sustainability.
“We need to make agriculture appealing to young people,” Dr Forson stated, underscoring the importance of youth involvement for the future of the industry.
Furthermore, Dr Forson stressed the vital role of agribusinesses, reaffirming his commitment to collaborating with the Agriculture Minister to drive change.
He emphasised that their combined efforts would focus on ensuring food security and making food more affordable for all citizens.
“I am deeply passionate about this, and I will work effectively with the minister responsible for agriculture to ensure both food security and cheaper food for all,” he concluded
