The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) has taken delivery of four Lightweight Transport Ventilators (LTV) and their circuits to enhance the teaching of medical students and young doctors in emergency and pediatric care.
The donation by Dayton Children’s Hospital was facilitated by Dr. Samuel Dzodzomenyo, a renowned specialist in child neurology and pediatric sleep medicine.
Presenting the items, Dr. Dzodzomenyo emphasized the need for young Ghanaian doctors to keep raising the bar and maintaining Ghana's prominence on the global medical stage.
He also highlighted the importance of leveraging Ghana's growing reputation as a center for tourism to seek collaborations and support from international partners visiting the country.
The regular donation to the hospital demonstrates his unwavering commitment to improving healthcare in Ghana.
Since completing his fellowship training in child neurology in 1996, Dr. Dzodzomenyo has made it a tradition to return to Ghana to teach and make significant contributions to the KATH.
His past contributions include the donation of Electroencephalogram (EEG) machines and the establishment of the first pediatric EEG lab in the country, a pioneering effort that fortified the foundation for pediatric neurology services in Ghana.
The donation was officially received on behalf of the hospital by Dr. Chris Oppong, Head of Emergency Medicine Directorate, Dr. Eno Biney, Lead Clinician, and the hospital's biomedical team, who expressed their profound gratitude to Dr. Dzodzomenyo for his thoughtful gestures and continued support to the hospital over the years.
