Professor John Gatsi, a member of the National Economic Dialogue Committee, has stated that a comprehensive report on the two-day dialogue held in Accra will be presented to President John Mahama before the end of March 2025.
According to him, the dialogue was significant, and the committee has taken note of all contributions and recommendations on how to improve the country’s economy.
He said by 20th March, the committee will deliver the report to the President, while Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson will begin implementing some of the ideas gathered from the event.
“A comprehensive report will be presented to the President by the 20th of this month. The Finance Minister has already identified the short-term measures to include in the budget,” he said on JoyNews’ AM Show on Wednesday.
Professor Gatsi also mentioned that various ministers have taken some of the ideas from the dialogue into consideration for their respective portfolios as part of the broader effort to reset the country’s economic trajectory.
“The ministers have taken key takeaways from the forum and highlighted how they intend to implement them moving forward,” he explained.
He noted that the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Johnson Pandit Asiama emphasised the importance of engaging with the private sector semi-annually, proposing that a semi-annual report be submitted to Parliament’s Finance Committee for proper oversight.
The event, held at the Accra International Conference Centre, was organised by the new government to gather ideas from stakeholders and experts on how to shape the country’s economic future.
President Mahama, speaking at the launch, encouraged participants to offer solutions that would aid in rebuilding the nation and promised to listen to every submission.
Meanwhile, members of parliament from the opposition New Patriotic Party boycotted the forum, dismissing it as irrelevant.
