Samini has officially confirmed the release of his highly-anticipated eighth studio album, titled ORIGIN8A, set to drop in May 2025.

In a recent podcast interview, the celebrated musician shared insights into the inspiration behind the project, the featured artists, and his expectations for the album’s impact.

According to Samini, ORIGIN8A—his eighth album—symbolizes the final shot in a game of pool, where a player must strategically call and sink the eighth ball to win.

He likened this album to that crucial moment, explaining that he is carefully crafting every aspect of the project to ensure its success and longevity.

"This is the eighth ball. I call it the eighth ball because that's my eighth album. All seven balls cleared off the table, I have the eighth ball now, so I have to be specific about which hole the eighth ball is going in, and I have to make sure it goes into that hole. It’s quite tough, and I’m working on it."

Samini also revealed that ORIGIN8A will feature some of the biggest names in Ghanaian music, marking a reunion with some of his longtime collaborators. Among the confirmed features are: Kaakie, making her much-anticipated return to music; Stonebwoy, who's Samini's protégé and dancehall heavyweight; Mugeez, known for his distinct vocal style and hooks and the Soweto Gospel Choir, who appear on the album’s first single, CHAANA.

While these names alone are enough to excite fans, Samini hinted at more exclusive collaborations that he prefers to keep under wraps until the album’s official release.

The lead single, CHAANA, which means shine, was released just days ago and has already begun gaining traction across streaming platforms and airwaves.

The song’s powerful message of African resilience and potential, coupled with the harmonious blend of WALA and Swahili influences, has set the perfect tone for what fans can expect from ORIGIN8A.

With a tentative release date set for May 2025, Samini is leaving nothing to chance in ensuring that ORIGIN8A makes the impact it is destined for.

"It’s an album that I’m hoping will do what it’s meant to do and beyond. To God be the glory, it’s going well so far," he said, expressing confidence in the project.

As the countdown to the release begins, fans can expect more surprises, teasers, and possibly additional singles in the lead-up to what is shaping up to be one of Samini’s most ambitious musical projects yet.
