The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced a new date for the receipt of nominations for the Nkoranza North and Nkoranza South District Level Elections, as well as by-elections for other vacant electoral areas.
The nominations, previously scheduled for April 1 to April 4, 2025, have been rescheduled to Monday, April 7, to Thursday, April 10, 2025.
According to the Commission in a statement, this change follows the declaration of Tuesday, April 1, 2025, as a public holiday by President John Dramani Mahama.
It stated that the time and venues for submitting nominations remain unchanged, and the EC urges the public and all prospective candidates to take note of the new dates.
The elections, set for Tuesday, May 13, 2025, are in line with the District Level Elections Regulations, 2015 (C.I. 89).
The process aims to elect new Assembly and Unit Committee Members following the expiration of their terms.
Additionally, by-elections will be held on the same day to fill vacancies left by the resignation or passing of some Assembly Members.
"Completed Nomination Forms must be delivered in quadruplicate by the Candidate personally or by the Proposer or Seconder together with two copies of a recent bust sized photograph against a RED background to the Returning Officer of the Electoral Area for which the Candidate seeks election from Tuesday, 1st April to Friday, 4th April, 2025, between the hours of 9 am and 12 pm and 2 pm to 5 pm each day.”
