Former Minister for Tourism and Creative Arts and ex-MP for Sekondi, Andrew Egyapa Mercer, has demanded clarity from government over the controversial Airmed flight recently linked to suspicious activities.
Speaking on JoyNews' Newsfile on Saturday, 12 April, Mr Mercer stated categorically that the flight did not transport any patient, raising concerns about what the aircraft was used for.
His comments come amid heightened public interest in the alleged ‘suspicious flights saga’ and the attempted arrest of Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, the Ranking Member of Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, who raised red flags about the flight’s purpose.
Mr Mercer defended Fordjour and questioned the government’s silence on the matter.
“We know for a fact that the Airmed flight didn’t carry any patient. So what did it carry? The government should tell Ghanaians,” Mr Mercer insisted.
He expressed frustration at what he described as a deliberate lack of transparency and accountability on the part of state authorities.
According to Mr Mercer, the government has not yet addressed critical questions posed by concerned stakeholders, including Members of Parliament.
He called on the relevant agencies to come clean on the contents and purpose of the flight, stressing the importance of transparency in protecting public trust and national security.
