Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club have welcomed the FIFA Club World Cup trophy in a festive ceremony attended by several high-profile figures, including former Moroccan internationals Hussein Kharja and Hicham Ait Mena, who had the honour of unveiling the trophy to the public.
The trophy’s arrival in Morocco on Tuesday marks a key stop on its promotional tour ahead of the much-anticipated global tournament, set to take place this summer in the United States.
The maiden edition will feature 32 clubs, modelled after the FIFA World Cup structure, has been scheduled for 14 June to 13 July 2025 across 11 cities in the United States.
In an official statement, Wydad Athletic Club expressed immense pride in hosting the prestigious trophy, calling it a moment of honour not just for the club but for Moroccan football as a whole. The event celebrates Wydad’s status as Morocco’s representative on the world stage.

The celebration includes a variety of special segments and will continue with a promotional tour across Casablanca on Wednesday.
Highlights of the tour will include visits to notable historical sites, such as Wydad’s founding headquarters in the city’s old town.
A public viewing session will also be held, giving fans a chance to take souvenir photos with the trophy in a festive and memorable setting.

Wydad is the final African stop on the Club World Cup trophy tour, following visits to Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa), Al Ahly (Egypt), and Esperance (Tunisia).
The Moroccan giants face a challenging group at the upcoming tournament, drawn alongside European champions Manchester City, Italian powerhouse Juventus, and UAE’s Al Ain.
