After four consecutive defeats in the fixture, Accra Hearts of Oak finally secured a point against Asante Kotoko in Sunday's Super Clash.

What was possibly the least followed and without doubt the least interesting match in the history of the fixture ended goalless at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Kotoko started the game with a conservative approach but were the first to have a sight on goal.

Kwame Opoku, who had scored seven goals in thirteen previous league appearances for Kotoko, was through on goal from a counter attack until a well-timed Konadu Yiadom tackle stole the ball right before he could shoot.

That was in seventh minute.Hearts resumed control of the match thereafter, but their build-up was laboured and had no real threat in front of goal.

Kotoko, who were happy to sit back, also could not threaten on the few occassions they broke free on the counter.

The trend continued with both sides failing to create chances until half time.

The second half got off to a better start when Hearts created the first real opportunity.

Stephen Appiah Asare was fed through on goal by Hussein Mohammed, but he fired straight at Kotoko goalkeeper, Mohammed Camara in the 47th minute.

Kotoko pushed further up the pitch, breaking out of their shells to claim control of the game.

However, Baba Yahaya, Albert Amoah and Kwame Opoku seemed content with knocking the ball around without any threat.

On the hour mark, Hearts of Oak's Raphael Amponsah swivelled away from his marker but fired harmlessly over the bar.

Ten minutes to full time, Kotoko came close to scoring when Albert Amoah carved half a yard for himself in the penalty area, but his snap shot missed the target.

His effort was followed by a flurry of Kotoko attacks down the right, but each ended with a harmless cross that was gathered by Hearts keeper Benjamin Asare.

Sunday's draw leaves the Phobians in 6th position with 46 points, five behind their rivals Asante Kotoko.
