The Ashanti Regional Para Sports Festival was officially launched on Friday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
Organised by the Association of Para Sports – Ashanti Region, in collaboration with the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council, Manhyia Palace, and the National Sports Authority (Ashanti Region), the event marks a historic step toward promoting inclusive sports and celebrating the talents of persons with disabilities across the region and beyond.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Benjamin Annor, President of the Para Sports Association in the Ashanti Region, emphasised that the festival is more than just a sporting event. He described it as a powerful representation of equity and resilience.
“This festival is about telling young persons with disabilities that their dreams are valid, their talents are worthy, and their contributions to society are meaningful,” he said.
Through this initiative, the PARA Sports Association in the Ashanti Region aims to promote social inclusion, draw policy attention to disability-friendly development, and foster unity through sports.
An official logo for the festival was also unveiled by the invited dignitaries during the ceremony. The Ashanti Region Para Sports Festival is scheduled to take place in August 2025.
The launch marks the beginning of a movement that seeks to uphold dignity and create opportunities for all.
