A solemn burial ceremony for the former Minister for Environment Dr Ibrahim Muhammed Murtala, and former Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Muniru Limuna Mohammed, was held at the Forecourt of the State House.
The two officials were among eight people who died when a Ghana Air Force helicopter crashed in the Adansi-Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.
The national tragedy has prompted a wave of mourning, with tributes pouring in from across the country.
The burial rites drew a host of high-profile dignitaries, including President John Mahama, the Vice President, the Speaker of Parliament, and the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the National Chief Imam.
Their remains were transferred to the Military Cemetery in Accra for their final burial.
While the two Muslim victims were buried today, a larger inter-denominational state funeral for all eight victims is scheduled for Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Black Star Square.
