The 2025 edition of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) promises to be the biggest yet, with a record 174 schools set to battle for supremacy at the national championship.
The contest will be officially launched on October 2.
Organisers say this year’s number is the largest in the history of the competition, marking a new milestone for Ghana’s most prestigious academic contest.
The 174 schools comprise 27 seeded schools, who qualified directly based on their strong performances in 2024, 106 regional qualifier winners, 32 top runners-up, and nine private schools.
Another highlight of NSMQ 2025 is the entry of 15 debutant schools, making their very first appearance at the national level.
This, according to observers, reflects the growing competitiveness of the quiz and the fact that more schools across the country are rising to the challenge of academic excellence.

Some of the debuntant schools include; Prampram SHS, Our Lady of Lourdes Girls’ SHS, Ngleshie Amanfro SHS, Attafuah SHTS, Akro SHTS, Presby SHS Adeiso, Wovenu SHTS, Mankessim SHTS, Agona SHTS among others.
With schools drawn from all 16 regions of Ghana, the stage is set for what promises to be one of the most competitive and exciting editions yet.
From champions defending their legacy to first-timers looking to make history, the 2025 championship is expected to thrill audiences across the nation.
The NSMQ has been the ultimate stage for testing wit, speed and academic brilliance among senior high schools. Year after year, it continues to capture national attention, uniting in excitement and school pride.
As the 2025 national championship is set to launch on October 2, alumni and fans across the country will be watching closely to see which school lifts the coveted trophy.
