Former Black Queens coach Yussif Basigi has been named as the new head coach of the Black Queens B team, marking a significant step in strengthening the technical leadership of the women’s game.
Basigi, who previously guided the Black Queens and the Black Princesses, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He has also coached Hasaacas Ladies in the Women’s Premier League, demonstrating his ability to develop and mentor young female footballers.
Basigi, who previously coached Simba Queens in Tanzania, is one of the two coaches the GFA sent to Germany to expand their capacity in 2022 and has been a pivotal figure in the women’s game for decades.
He will be supported by an experienced technical team. Former Black Queens defender Dora Zuta has been named as assistant coach, while former Asante Kotoko and Black Stars goalkeeper Isaac Amoako will handle goalkeeping duties. Aboagye Dacosta has been appointed as Athletic Coach, with Memunatu Mumuni taking up the role of Equipment Officer and Princess Amoako serving as the team’s Welfare Manager.
On the medical side, Dr Baah Christiana will lead as the Team Doctor, assisted by Rabiatu Abubakar as Team Masseur and Gyamfuaa Amponsah as Physiotherapist. This diverse backroom staff is expected to provide the necessary technical and logistical support to elevate the performance of the Black Queens B.
The appointment of Yusif Basigi and his team reflects the GFA’s commitment to building a strong pipeline for women’s football in Ghana. The Black Queens B serves as a critical link between the youth national teams and the senior Black Queens side, offering a platform for emerging talent to develop and break into the senior ranks.
The Black Queens B is the home-based version of the female senior national team of Ghana, the Black Queens. It serves as a critical platform for locally based players to showcase their talent and develop for future national and international assignments.
