A total of 500 pupils who sat for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) have received educational supplies, including chop boxes, bedsheets, pillows, and student mattresses, to support their transition to senior high school.

The beneficiaries of the Education for All project are from both private and public junior high schools and scored between aggregate six and 20.

Member of Parliament for Hohoe, Thomas Worlanyo Tsekpo, said the initiative was aimed at improving access to education and creating equal opportunities for students in the constituency.

He said the project has five main components. These include the Hohoe Education Endowment Fund, designed to support bright but needy students at all levels of education; the SMART Lab Project, which seeks to equip schools with modern learning tools to promote digital literacy; and the Internet for All Initiative, which aims to provide reliable internet access to schools in the municipality.

Other components are the Teachers’ Awards and Motivation Programme, which recognises outstanding teachers, and the Teachers’ Housing Project, which seeks to address accommodation challenges, particularly for teachers in remote communities.

According to Mr Tsekpo, over 200 students — including those pursuing PhDs, master’s, degree, and diploma programmes — have benefited from three scholarship schemes covering fields such as Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), Law, Education, Governance, and Business Administration.

He said these interventions were intended to build human capital and promote long-term development in the constituency.

Hohoe Municipal Chief Executive, Prosper Kumi, commended the MP’s efforts and said the Assembly would continue to support initiatives aimed at improving education in the area.

He urged parents, teachers, and other stakeholders to work together to raise academic performance, expressing hope that more students would qualify for support next year.

Hohoe Municipal Director of Education, Victor Kovey, thanked the MP on behalf of the beneficiaries and said the Directorate would collaborate with stakeholders to improve BECE results from 2026 onwards.

He added that a Best Teachers’ Award would soon be introduced in the municipality to motivate teachers.

The three best-performing BECE candidates also received full scholarships from the MP to cover their education through to the tertiary level.
