Abetifi Presbyterian Senior High School has secured a hard-fought victory at the SGS Auditorium in the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) preliminary stage, beating Oti Boateng SHS by a narrow margin in one of the most competitive contests of the day.
The Kwahu-based school finished with 56 points, just six points ahead of Oti Boateng SHS, who ended with 50 points. Sefwi Wiaso SHS, representing the Western North Region, trailed behind with 16 points.
Both Abetifi Presby and Oti Boateng SHS put up an impressive display of intellect and composure across all rounds, thrilling the audience with their swift responses and confident teamwork.

The contest’s Problem of the Day proved challenging for all three schools, with Oti Boateng SHS and Abetifi Presby SHS each scoring 2 out of 10, while Sefwi Wiaso SHS managed 1 out of 10.
Despite the low Problem of the Day scores, Abetifi Presby’s consistency throughout the rounds made the difference, helping them clinch a well-deserved victory and a spot in the next stage of the competition.
However, Oti Boateng SHS still stand a strong chance of progressing as one of the top five highest-scoring runner-ups, given their impressive 50 points performance — a score that could easily secure them a place in the one-eighth stage.
