Kobby Amoah, an aide to New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful Kennedy Agyapong, has expressed disappointment over recent comments made by former Minister for Works and Housing, Samuel Atta Akyea.
The senior lawyer had urged NPP delegates to exercise prudence in selecting the party’s next flagbearer, cautioning against choosing anyone who could embarrass Ghana on the international stage.

Speaking on JoyNews’ The Pulse on Wednesday, Mr Amoah said it was regrettable that a figure of Mr Atta Akyea’s stature would make remarks he believes only heighten tensions within the party.
"Looking at another right respected person like Honourable Samuel Atta Akyea, whom all of us look up to as a role model in the legal profession and in politics, I was expecting language that will unite the party, language that brings everybody together, and a language that makes it easier for the party to move forward after the election," he said.
He stressed that, at a time when the NPP is preparing for its presidential primaries in January, leaders of his calibre should be championing peace and unity rather than casting aspersions.
"I believe that people of their calibre should be the ones who will be calling us the younger ones and others in the party to order," he added.
Mr Amoah condemned the comments, describing them as “unfortunate” and misaligned with the party’s need for cohesion as it heads into a crucial internal contest.
