The Deputy Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Richard Gyan-Mensah, inaugurated an 850kWp grid-connected solar power system at Sintex Tank Factory in the Tema Industrial Park on Thursday, November 27.
Representing Energy Minister John Abdulai Jinapor, the Deputy Minister praised Sintex Industries for making a “strategic and forward-looking investment” in renewable energy.
He noted that the solar installation will not only lower operational costs but also reduce the company’s carbon footprint and support global sustainability goals.
“This project aligns perfectly with the government’s renewable energy strategy, which aims to raise the share of modern renewables in Ghana’s energy mix from 5 percent to 10 percent by 2030,” Mr Gyan-Mensah said.
He urged other industries, both large and small, to follow Sintex’s lead by integrating solar and other clean technologies into their operations.
“We have a unique opportunity to transform our factories, offices, and homes into champions of clean energy, fostering a sustainable, secure, and affordable energy future for Ghana,” he added.
The installation represents a significant step forward for private-sector participation in Ghana’s transition to greener energy systems.
