Kumasi was steeped in a mix of deep grief and heartfelt celebration on Saturday, December 13, as thousands of mourners from across the country converged to bid a final farewell to Ghana’s highlife legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, affectionately known as Daddy Lumba.

The Baba Yara Sports Stadium became a stage for emotion, music, and memories, marking the end of months of legal wrangling, family disputes, and anticipation surrounding the iconic musician’s final rites.

Fans, family, fellow musicians, and top government officials converged to honor the man whose music has defined generations. Portraits, banners, and heartfelt tributes filled the stadium, reflecting the profound impact Daddy Lumba had on Ghana’s cultural and musical landscape.

Over a career spanning more than three decades, Daddy Lumba produced over 30 albums, blending traditional highlife with modern Afropop.
