A 25 year old employee at the Essipong Stadium is likely to be prosecuted for drenching the Deputy Western Regional Minister, Madam Bosomtwe Sam, in water on Sunday.
The man, whose name has been withheld, allegedly opened sprinklers during a ceremony on the pitch of the Essipong Stadium.
The minister was presenting items to the management and players of Sekondi Eleven Wise when the incident occurred.
According to Joy News correspondent, Kweku Owusu Peprah the incident happened “spontaneously” and was “embarrassing”.
He was immediately arrested by the police, detained overnight and released Monday morning on bail, Peprah confirmed.
Security Personnel have described the incident as a security breach, and have begun investigations into the matter.
Peprah said it is difficult to ascertain whether the act was purely accidental or deliberate, but one thing is certain; the worker was to have opened the sprinklers at the end of the ceremony, and not in the middle of it.
The drenched deputy minister says she does not want to get involved in matter.
