Laryea Kingston’s return to the Black Stars set-up could be delayed after his club Hearts asked the national team to excuse him from the international friendly against Zambia in London.
KickOffGhana.com understands that Hearts have faxed a request to the Ghana Football Association asking that the player, who spent much of last season on the injury list, should be exempted from the friendly in order to keep him fresh for their opening Scottish League match against Dundee United and their Europa League commitments to come.
It is not clear what the GFA’s stance will be on the matter, but if Laryea is omitted from the side it will leave Milovan Rajevac with yet another key player lost after Kwadwo Asamoah suffered a one-month lay-off due to injury.
Kingston has not played for the Black Stars since the second phase of the World Cup qualifiers begun in June.
