Spanish La Liga side Getafe are confident Ghanaian midfielder Derek Boateng will be good value for money.
The player signed a four-year deal on Monday to switch from FC Cologne in Germany to Spain.
The La Liga side say they opted for Boateng because he fits their bill of strong and good midfielder and are confident he will turn in the performances to match that.
“If I was a betting person I will for sure bet that Boateng will be successful here at Getafe,” sport director Toni Munez said.
“We were looking for a player with strength and good technique and we have got that from Boateng.”
Boateng is confident La Liga will suit his style of football and is determined to take his chance.
Generally considered the most talented of the group of players that includes Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari and John Paintsil, he was voted second best player at the World Youth Championships in 2001 and has represented Ghana at the 2002 Nations Cup and 2006 World Cup.
At club level he has played for Kalamata and Panathinaikos in Greece, AIK Stockholm in Sweden and Beitar Jerusalem in Israel before his switch to Germany to join Cologne in January.
