Despite the inability of David Duncan to get Kotoko to the group stage of the African Champions League, the club insists his appointment has not been a mistake.
Masud Didi Dramani had been hugely successful with the Reds on the domestic front in the two years he was in charge, but was sacked following a poor start to this league season.
Operations Manager George Kennedy was speaking on Asempa FM's Ultimate Sports Morning Show on Monday.
"I still believe the sacking of Didi Dramani was justified, but as a coach, you can’t win all matches," Kennedy said.
And with David Duncan having had a 100 percent record - comprising just three games - until Kotoko's 2-1 loss to Eulma in Kumasi on Sunday, the knives are being sharpened for the outspoken coach.
"A good coach is determined by winning majority of his matches," the ops manager argued, despite the fact that Duncan's win have come against barely decent sides in the local top flight.
"The response of the players since the appointment of David Duncan justified our decision to bring him in.
"We know the effect David Duncan has made on the team. It is rather unfortunate this defeat has come but there is clearly some sort of revival in the team."
This exit from the Caf Champions League will, despite Kennedy's words, be a blight on Duncan's tenure, even though he has barely been in charge of the team for a month.
The former Hearts boss will also know that Dramani's record he has to beat won't be easy, considering Didi annexed two league titles and an FA Cup.
