French club Stade Rennes say their Ghanaian striker Asamoah Gyan has been called up for Ghana’s 2010 World Cup qualifier against Sudan in Accra on September 6 and the international friendly against Japan three days later.
The club said on their website that they have received an official invitation from handlers of the national team for the striker whose national team career in recent years has been plagued by injuries.
Gyan last played for Ghana in the 2010 world cup qualifier against Benin in Kumasi in March but has missed the two games in June against Mali and Sudan due to injury.
But after extensive recovery regime during the off-season he has recovered and has opened his account in the French top flight this term.
Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac is yet to release his official list for the game which could see the Black Stars book their place in South Africa if Mali draw in Cotonou against Benin and Ghana beat Sudan.
