Ghana were simply outclassed.
At least, that's the verdict from the team's management hours after succumbing to a classy Mali side 3-0.
Satellites Management Committee Chairman Wilfred Osei 'Plamer' has offered an apology to Ghanaians after his side’s demoralizing 3-0 defeat ain the ongoing Fifa Under 20 World Cup.
Osei stated his side had let the country down especially when Ghanaians expected them to win the trophy. The result sees the Satellites bow out of the competition in the round after 16 knockout phase after winning bronze in the previous edition in 2013.
“We don’t have any excuses to give on the day. The better side won. The Malians were at their best," Osei, popularly called Palmer, said on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show minutes after full time.
“To me this offers us food for thought and we need to do a lot to catch up with the rest. When I spoke to the boys, it was terrible; it was difficult for the boys to accept, it was difficult for the technical team to accept.”
The team went into the game with much confidence but the results has left a sour taste, the official went on.
This assessment was similar to that of team coach Sellas Tetteh. "Mali were the better team today. You’re always going to lose a match where every 50/50 ball lands at the feet of your opposition."
Mali, with the win, advance to the quarterfinals of the competition. In the day's other games, Senegal also went through via penalties against Ukraine.
