Host of Hitz FM’s Taxi Driver show, Abubakar Ahmed popularly known as Blakk Rasta is set to appear before a parliamentary privileges committee enquiry Thursday.
The controversial presenter and musician is appearing before the committee over his claim that 80 percent of Ghanaian parliamentarians smoke marijuana.
The committee is expected to investigate and recommend appropriate sanctions, if any, to the House.
Blakk Rasta’s appearance has become topical in Parliament as well as in the media.
Deputy ranking member on the privileges committee, Nana Amoako told Joy News Parliament takes Blakk Rasta's claims seriously.
“He is allowed to bring in his counsellor and then [questions] will be put to him pertaining to what really he said and then …he has to tell us exactly what he meant about 80 percent of parliamentarians smoke weed,” he said.
Amoako revealed that, “At the moment, we have listened to the audio, we also have the print media and we have some witnesses that we will also be inviting to come and give us some testimony on that. The person who also raised the issue question on the floor also will come.”
Due to the public interest in the matter, the committee will allow the general public to witness the enquiry.
