Matthew Amoah ended the first half of the Dutch season on a high after scoring but Asamoah Gyan was red carded in a bad end to what has been a terrific half term for him.
The Black Stars striker was sent off for Stade Rennes ten minutes into their 2-0 loss at Sochaux just before he joins up with Ghana for their pre-Nations Cup camping in Nelspruit.
It capped a frustrating few weeks when Gyan failed to score but he still ended on a high with eight goals, two behind the leading goal scorer.
But while Gyan was ruing an early sending off for the stray elbow, his likely striker partner for Ghana at the Cup of Nations in Angola, Matthew Amoah was grabbing the headlines in Holland for the right reasons in the Dutch Cup.
Amoah broke the resistance of De Grafschaap with the opening goal after 107 minutes of play before a second from Giilsen made victory certain for NAC Breda. It was the Ghana striker’s 7th goal of the season.
