Some voters' registers to be used for the District Assembly elections in Wa in the Upper West region have been drenched after a downpour Monday night.
Joy News' regional correspondent Rafiq Salam reports that the registers and other voting materials were left outside the police station after they were brought there from the Electoral Commission for sorting.

Polling officials were unable to complete the process in time and left the materials outside.
Officials returned Tuesday morning to find the register soaked. It was difficult to open the booklet without tearing a page off.

The register has been left in the sun to dry. It was expected to be sent to the Falahia Junior High School polling station Tuesday morning.
The Wa Municipality has 137 out of the 951 polling stations in the Upper West region. The wet voters registers has delayed a process expected to start at 7am. There are fears that the delay will disencourage turn-out especially among the market women who are eager to leave for the market.
Rafiq says the police have declined to comment on the issue. Telephone calls to the municipal electoral officer about the issue went unanswered.

Election of assembly and unit committee members begun Tuesday morning across the country. It is expected to be peaceful and without incident.

Electoral Officials are hoping for a better turn-out this year because of an unusual interest shown by the number of candidates contesting.
Although many Ghanaians fail to appreciate the need to vote for Assemblymen and women, the election this year has thrown up unusual twists and turns.
The election has been rocked with injunctions, curses with many threatening to boycott the process.
Also, the Assembly member for Tanokrom West in the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis Samuel Kwesi Anderson has secured an injunction on the process after he was disqualified by the Electoral Commission.
