Council for three of the High Court Judges cited in the judicial scandal says the judges keep filing lawsuits against Anas because it is the only way to react to allegations leveled against them.
Nii Kpakpo Samoa Addo, speaking on Accra based Citi FM said “The judges are in a very vulnerable position; it is against their code of conduct to speak on air”.
Justices Paul Uuter Dery, Mustapha Habib Logoh and Gilbert Ayisi Addo are among the twelve High Court Judges cited in a judicial bribery scandal by Investigative Journalist Anas Ayemeyaw Anas and his Tiger Eye Team.
The twelve High Court Judges and 22 Lower Court Judges were caught on tape allegedly receiving money, goats and other commodities to pervert justice.
Chief Justice Georgina Theodora Wood set up two different committees to investigate the High Court Judges and the Lower Court Judges.
Seven of the High Court judges were suspended while two are on retirement and one, acquitted and discharged.
But some have questioned the integrity of Anas Aremeyaw Anas, his Tiger Eye Team and the results of the investigation.
There have been about five lawsuits by judges against Anas and the Tiger Eye PI team.
The most recent one was filed by Justice Gilbert Ayisi Addo.
His lawyer, Nii Kpakpo said the Chief Justice and the Attorney-General were joined in the suit because of their respective roles. The judge is seeking about 32 reliefs from the High Court.
The lawyer hinted that another lawsuit might be filed because according to him, Justice Ayisi Addo sacked the team that went to his house to bribe him yet he is being accused of collecting bribe.
“If you watch the video, you will see that Justice Ayisi drove the guys out of his house and the audience who watched it at the Conference Centre clapped…but listen to the comments that followed that,” he stated.
Nii Kpakpo Samoa Addo added that “all the judges have to do is to go to court”.
