The Lands Commission has dismissed media reports that it has sold the Ghana School of Mapping and Survey to a private developer to build a shopping mall.

Agitated students on Thursday marched to the Lands Commission to protest the alleged sale of the school's land.

President of the Student's Representative Council of the School, Light Daniel told Joy News’ Manasseh Azure Awuni he is convinced that the school has been sold.

“I have spoken to one or two people to confirm most of the things that I am hearing and it is becoming evident that the place will be pulled down”.

He was, however, unable to tell when this will happen.

Management of the school, on the other hand, said it is not aware of any such decision.

Deputy Executive Secretary of the Lands Commission says it is not true the school has been sold.

He said the only development that would take place on the school’s compound is the proposed Head Office Complex of the Lands Commission.

This according to Jones Ofori-Boadu, will not affect the running of activities of the school. He said the school would be cordoned off while the construction takes place, hopefully, in January next year.

"We have made provisions for the two classrooms that will be affected. We have aquired four classrooms at the CSIR nearby so that classes can be held there as well," he said.

Mr. Ofori- Boadu said the Lands Commission currently has difference offices at Cantoments, which would be used to house the Ghana School of Mapping and Survey when the office complex is completed workers at the head office move."

He said the Commission was making plans to develop the school and place it in a better position for accreditation and would not do anything to disturb the smooth running of the school.
