The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr. Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu has been honoured and praised by Prophets and Spiritual Churches Council, Ghana for his unflinching position on peace.

Sheikh Sharubutu was celebrated when the leadership of the Council called on him at his office in Accra as part of the latter’s ‘Blessed are the Peace Makers’ Honouring Tour.

The tour will take the prophets to some prominent men of God and statesmen who have committed their resources and toiled tirelessly to promote peace in Ghana.

“Your treasured words of wisdom, stately advice and priceless words of peace gave hope and kept the nation together during the time Ghana needed a voice worth listening,” the Spiritual Leader, Prophets and Spiritual Churches Council Prophet Nakoa Nazareth Ansah Jamson extolled the Chief Imam.

He acknowledged that the entire nation is honoured to have someone in the person of the Chief Imam, who at all time has made it a point to uphold the pillars of peace especially before, during and after the landmark Supreme Court election petition verdict.

“Your Eminence, we are highly hopeful that you will take the same firm position, with the same fatherly voice and spiritual direction as we prepare for the 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections,” Nakoa Jamson prayed.

The meeting with the Chief Imam, he stated, is to show the peace path being charted by Christians and Muslims and to also demonstrate to the world that the two religions can co-exist in harmony.

He recalled that God laid on the heart of the Prophets and Spiritual Churches Council to organize urgent intercessory prayers for the country, which culminated into the historic Inter-Faith National Thanksgiving Service held at the Black Star Square on November 2014.

National Chief Chief Imam Sheikh Dr. Osmanu Nuhu construed the gathering to be a reminder from God that “we were all created from a single and unique source; whether big or small nation we are from the same place”.

Speaking through an interpreter, Sheikh Sharubutu prompted all religious groups that God did not create human beings to fight each other and cause unnecessary conflicts amongst them. Rather, he created human beings and charged them with a responsibility to enter into peace accord with one another be it nations, tribes etc.

Such peaceful co-existence has eluded a number of nations, he said, and prayed to God to keep uniting the two religions.

Whatever action you take on earth – whether good or bad – would be brought into judgment, he reminded both Christians and Muslims.

The Chief Imam also commended Nakoa Ansah Jamson for the peace crusade he is championing.

The Chief Imam was presented with a plaque, citation to go with the honour and a Holy Qur’an.
