Government has dismissed reports that there will be nationwide load shedding for the next two weeks.
Speaking on JOYNEWS' political discussion program, Joint Caucus, presidential staffer and aspiring parliamentarian National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ningo Prampram constituency, Sam George, said the energy problem has been fixed.
“I can state on authority that there will be no two weeks of power outage. Our peak demand right now is 1900 megawatts but we are producing 2000 megawatts," Mr. George said.
He explained that "the shutdown of the FPSO for another two weeks is that it is reducing our capacity to produce an additional 100 megawatts because if the FPSO becomes functional in two weeks we will be having the capacity of producing 3000 megawatts. So now the shortfall we have from 3000 megawatts brings us around somewhere 2000 megawatts."

This was in reaction to host, Dzifa Bampoh’s question about President Mahama’s recent commissioning of 150,000 metric tonnes cold stores in the Western region when the nation is having an energy problem.
Mr. George, however, said that local outages from time to time are "resident evils that we all have to deal with when we know that we have some machinery that is a bit obsolete and would take time to replace."
A press release from the Load Management Committee signed by its Chairman, Ing William Anuma, on Friday apologised to Ghanaians for the intermittent power outages during the course of the week. According to the statement, this was due to maintenance work on the FPSO and the "persistent under-delivery of gas supply from Nigeria."
The statement said work is ongoing and did not say when the energy situation will return to normalcy.
