Breast Care International (BCI) is set to begin an intensive campaign on Non-Communicable Diseases across the country.
This is aimed at reducing the risks factors for chronic diseases that stemmed from unhealthy diets and physical inactivity.
President of Breast Care International, Dr. Beatrice Wiafe Addai announced this during a screening exercise for two churches in Accra.
Church members of the Laterbiokoshie Seventh Day Adventist, and the KwashiemanPresbyterian church benefitted from free breast and prostate cancer screening Breast Care International.
The non-governmental organization concerned with raising awareness on the dangers of breast cancer has added has added this campaign to encourage Ghanaians to adopt healthy lifestyles in order to reduce the increase in Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) in the country.
Dr. Beatrice Wiafe Addai who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Peace and Love Hospitals said most cancer cases stems from unhealthy lifestyles hence the decision to create more awareness on non-communicable disease.
She added that, it was important to exploit the breast cancer platform to create awareness about other cancers, particularly prostate cancer and non-communicable diseases.
Meanwhile, at Akokoamonin the Ashanti region, the BCI team was on hand again, offering free screening for hundreds of women to mark the tenth anniversary celebrations of the “AsomdweFiriNyame” fun club.
Explaining with the aid of pictorial representations, Dr.WiafeAddai cautioned against associating the disease with superstition, insisting it was curable provided patients reported the condition on time.
President of the fun club, Francis Boakye couldn’t agree more that it was wrong for husbands to abandon wives afflicted by the disease, and instead encouraged peace and love during those challenging and difficult moments.
