The staff of the Private Banking Department of Stanbic Bank Ghana has supported the aged with food and cash donation to the aged at Somanya in the Eastern region.
The donation done in collaboration with ONUA PA foundation is part of the Bank’s corporate social responsibility.
This was after a health screen for the about 200 old men and women in Somanya and surrounding villages.
A team of volunteer medical officers and nurses screened over 200 elderly men and women for diabetes and hypertension.
The ONUA PA foundation is an organization that advocates better care for elderly persons. With support from Stanbic Bank, the event was also used to educate the elderly on how to live healthy lifestyles.

After the health outreach, participants in the event engaged in fun activities and also held a quiz competition.
Mr. Head of Private Banking at Stanbic, Dr. Ernest Kofi Asomani said the bank had in its small way been contributing in diverse ways to support the underprivileged in the society.
Dr. Asomani said besides the supporting the aged in Somanya, the Bank has identified others across the country and would provide them with the necessary support to improve their wellbeing.
He said the Bank is committed to support the well-being and economic development of the less-endowed and vulnerable in society” he added.

For his part, Chairman of the foundation, Blessed Ayisi said old age was a blessing from God, hence the need for the youth to give maximum care to the elderly.
He announced that Onua Pa Foundation was preparing to build a Seniors Centre along the Adukrom-Apirede road, which would serve as a meeting place for sharing ideas and for socialization.
Senior Citizens, Mr. Ayisi added, would thus feel appreciated and experience less boredom in their lives.
