SME bank, Union Savings, and Loans has been adjudged the Business support Non-bank Financial Institution for 2015 at the recently held Ghana Entrepreneur and Business Support Awards.
It is the ninth award Union Savings and Loans has won in one year.
The SME bank has over the years dedicated its resources towards assisting entrepreneurs with financial products and training.
In 2015, it introduced the SME Clinic – a management capacity building programme aimed at offering business solutions towards advancing the growth of SME’s to help accelerate the country’s development.
Speaking to JOY BUSINESS after receiving the award, Managing Director of Union Savings and Loans, Phillip Oti-Mensah said: “We are glad that our focus on entrepreneurs is paying off. We are motivated to do more and maintain our position of the number one SME bank in Ghana”.
Praising the country’s entrepreneurs for pressing on despite challenges such as high-interest rates, Mr. Oti- Mensah also encouraged his colleagues in the industry to come up with innovative ways to help SMEs do better.
The Ghana Entrepreneurs and Business Support Awards which has been running for the past six years is organized by the Entrepreneurs Foundation Ghana (EFG) under the auspices of the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
It is aimed at recognizing and honouring outstanding Ghanaian and non-Ghanaian permanent resident entrepreneurs and serve as a motivation for budding Ghanaian entrepreneurs in the small, medium and large enterprises.
