Chief Inspector Thomas Agbanyo, Police Public Relations Officer in charge of Upper East Region, disclosed this to journalists in Bolgatanga.
He said that motorbikes and lorries of the offenders had been seized, adding that some of the motorbike riders did not wear helmets.
Chief Insp. Agbanyo said that the special exercise would be sustained to reduce the rate of road accidents as Christmas drew closer and ensure that people obtained valid documents covering their vehicles.
He said that the MTTU would extend the exercise to other parts of the Region to ensure compliance with traffic regulations.
Chief Insp. Agbanyo warned owners of faulty vehicles parked along the roads to remove them or the Police would tow them at their expense.
He advised heads of departments and agencies to ensure that their employees, who use cars and motorbikes, obtained the necessary documents.
