The Lands Commission will by the end of the year refund monies to about 36 people who purchased lands at the site of the former International Students Hostel in Accra.
Among those to receive such refunds in Chief Justice Georgina Woode, who has decided to relinquish her interest in a plot of land in the area.
Government is taking back the lands to rezone the area, a move which will effectively stop the construction of residential facilities in the area.
Acting Greater Accra Regional Lands Officer Alhaji Mohammed Habib Alhassan told Joy News that the area will be used to construct offices for the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
He said individuals who were holding leases to parcels of land at the area were told that their leases were no longer valid because the government had decided to cancel the leases.
